Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly told Barcelona star Neymar not to leave his current club for Paris Saint-Germain, saying he should consider Manchester United if he really wants to leave the La Liga giants.
According to Catalan outlet Diario Gol (h/t The Sun’s Duncan Wright), Ronaldo in a series of WhatsApp messages warned his rival that a move to Ligue 1 would be a step back.
The transfer saga surrounding the Brazil international has exploded in the last week, with numerous reports from France and Spain contradicting each other on a daily basis.
Carlos Carpio of Marca reported Sunday that Neymar had agreed to a contract with PSG, though Ramiro Aldunate (via Tim Hanlon), who works for the same newspaper, noted the 25-year-old had decided to stay in Spain after meeting with his team-mates.
Per Wright, Neymar would cost Les Parisiens an astronomical transfer fee of £195 million—more than double the current record—on top of wages of up to £500,000 per week. There are only a few clubs that could pay such figures, and United are certainly part of that group.
